As the World Cancer Day was solemnly observed on 4th February, 2026, Saraswathi Vidyalaya embarked on a glorious and honourable journey of transforming the KIDS CAN Project, that started as a noble initiative of the school, to a State-level drive of creating a Cancer-free Kerala. Shri. Roshy Augustine, Honourable Minister for Water Resources, Govt. of Kerala, officially launched the project at State-level, along with its official logo, in the esteemed presence of Dr Devi Mohan, Vice Chairperson, Saraswathi Group of Institutions, , Dr Chandramohan, Secretary, Saraswathi Group of Institutions and President-Elect – Indian Association of Surgical Oncology, Smt. Shylaja O. R., Principal, Saraswathi Vidyalaya and a cohort of distinguished guests. The KIDS CAN Project, that aims at training school students under the able guidance of eminent oncologists and public health experts, preparing them as young ambassadors of a Cancer-free Kerala, was flagged off at Saraswathi Vidyalaya and soon numerous schools associated with the noble mission. Our students diligently took over the cause and played a vital role in the project’s progress by conducting Cancer awareness sessions and events within the campus and the wider community, emphasising on staying aware of the disease, the importance of early detection and the value of adopting healthy lifestyle choices for a healthy life. Their efforts were worthily acknowledged as the KIDS CAN student volunteers of Saraswathi Vidyalaya received Certificates of Appreciation by the Honourable Minister.
As the KIDS CAN Project soars to greater heights, Saraswathi Vidyalaya and its compassionate and proactive team of student volunteers pledge to remain committed to the mission of promoting a Cancer-free Kerala.
